Why do my gums bleed?

Short Answer: Bleeding gums are usually a sign of inflammation caused by plaque buildup or early-stage gum disease.

If you notice blood when brushing or flossing, your gums may be reacting to bacteria near the gumline. Without treatment, this can develop into periodontal disease, which can affect your overall health.

We recommend a gentle exam and cleaning to stop the bleeding and restore gum health before it worsens.
